Pictures from March 13th

We had a great day back at school!  It was wonderful to see all the many grandparents and special friends last Thursday!  I have some pictures that I will be posting on my next post.  Today we had chapel with Mrs. Lail.  We enjoyed singing our new song for the month, "Do You Know Who Died for Me?"  I will try to video us singing it so that you can sing it at home if you don't know the words or the actions.  It is a great song to sing during Lent!

We worked on our scissors skills today with Mrs. Horton.  Each child was asked to cut out 2 straight lines and 2 curvy lines.  On Thursday, we will glue them down to make a cutting collage!

While Mrs. Horton was working on cutting, I finished up the art project that we started last week.  We melted the cups and plates that we painted and I am trying to figure out how to make them hang from the ceiling.  Hopefully I will have that figured out by Thursday! :)

Today we read a book about feelings and I had a SMARTboard activity that had different faces that showed different emotions and the students had to tell me which emotion went with each face.  We went over happy, angry, sad, bored, and surprised. Outside, Mrs. Horton asked each child to show an emotion.  Can you guess what emotion is being shown?

Before we got to everyone, it was time to go, so if you don't see your child showing emotions, we will finish it up on Thursday!

We also read a book today called Brown Bear, Brown Bear: What do you hear? on the SMARTboard.  It patterns the same way the popular Eric Carle book does, except this book had sounds which was fun for the kids.  We decided that we were going to make the same book.  Each child picked an animal and illustrated a picture.  Then I recorded the kids making the sounds outside.  I am hoping to put the two parts together to make a Voicethread that I can send to you.  I am targeting next Tuesday to have that done.

Trying to record a lion roar!
Here is what the SMARTboard activity looked like about feelings:
Here is the Brown Bear book.  You could touch the lion and it would roar!  The kids loved it!
