May 17th Pictures

Our final Thursday in Preschool 3! :(

I can't believe that it is near the end!  Today we enjoyed playing outside for our large motor movement time.  We then went over to the church to see Mrs. Amy Bernhardt, one of Zion's first grade teachers, win an award for Teacher of the Year from MidRivers Magazine!  Yay Mrs. Bernhardt!

We then went on a letter and number hunt on campus.  We split into groups and Mrs. Horton took a group around the school to find letters and numbers and took pictures of what they found.  I took a group around the church.  We found a lot!  I put it together in a slideshow so that you can see all that we found! It is located at the end of the blog post.

When we came back to the classroom, I loaded the pictures on my computer and then we watched a slideshow and named all of what we found!  It was impressive! :)

After a yummy birthday treat, we had Jesus Time.  We started the story of Pentecost.  We talked about how the Holy Spirit came to the disciples and how there were tongues of fire on the disciples' heads.  I read to the students how the Holy Spirit helped the disciples tell others about Jesus and how we need to tell others about Jesus.  We will do this story again on Tuesday!

After Jesus Time, our friends from 2nd grade came down and did an art project with us and played in the classroom with us.  We had a blast together!  We watched a story about how a little girl loved to make dots and so there were all kinds of materials out for the students to make dots together!  We made a lot of dots! :)

Check out the fun we had today!

Singing "Down by the Bay"

Watching the story on the SMARTboard

We had to sing "Slippery Fish" with our friends! :)

We found a robin's eggshell on the sidewalk on the way to the playground

May 15th Pictures

Today we started off our time together in chapel.  We talked about how we need to obey our moms and dads to show them our love.  We also need to obey God and the commandment, "Love one another."

We finished painting our butterflies.  Each child was asked to draw a butterfly on one side of the paper and then I cut them out.  I was looking to see if the child remembered the 3 parts of the butterfly-body and 2 wings.  Each child incorporated those 3 parts in their drawing! :)

They are now hanging up in the classroom.

We also worked on writing our numbers again, 1-4.  The number 2 is still quite tricky!
We also worked on the words most and least.  On the SMARTboard, we took a look to see who had what colored eyes.  Then we counted to see which group had the most and which group had the least.  Later, the students came over to me and we worked on that concept again.  Most is easy, but least was a little confusing for us! :)

Our butterflies have come out of the chrysalis!  We have one more to go.  On Thursday, we will vote on the name of our pets! :)
Then we ended the day with a special visitor, Miss Julie.  She is the librarian from Kisker library and today she read to us books about frogs.  We also sang a special frog song.  We laughed and had a good time with our visitor!

Then we headed outside to end our day!

See you on Thursday!
