September 27th Pictures

Sail, sail, sail the ark on the waves at sea....today we had fun singing this song while we learned the story of Noah!  We focused on the idea that God kept Noah safe and He keeps us safe too!

Today we also started our Tree Project.  The students had to tell me what they knew about trees and then we went outside to look at trees so that the students could draw them when they came in.  We will be learning more about trees during the next couple of weeks.  Each student will decide what question they want answered about trees!  It will be fun to work with the students through this project!

During our Writing time, we worked on putting our wood pieces down to make letters.  It was fun to watch the kids figure out what piece goes where (Big Line, Little Line, Big Curve, Little Curve).

On Thursday, we will continue our story of Noah by focusing on the rainbow.  We will be doing a lot of fun but messy activities so please have your child dress in something that you won't mind if it gets paint on it.

September 22nd Pictures

Today we had fun with Apple Day!  We had apples for snack and then during Center Time, we painted with apples and voted whether we liked green or red apples better!  Next week, we will take each of the students' votes and turn it into a graph!  I wonder which color will win! :)

During Jesus time, we heard the story of Noah.  We will have a lot of fun the next 2 weeks with this story learning how God Keeps His Promises!

During gym, we rolled balls across the gym floor to a partner.  Next time, we will roll balls to try and knock a target down!  It should be fun!

Today we worked to complete puzzles; it was fun to watch them interact and work together to achieve this task.   At times, some of children would work independently, but then a friend would come over and help them finish!

This group loves to sing!  We had fun singing a silly song, moving like animals in another song, and learning the actions to a new song, "I Am Trusting You Lord Jesus".

Another great day in school!  See you next week!

We colored another page today working on our pencil grip

September 20th Pictures

Today we went to chapel and listened to Pastor Reitz (Zion's Associate Pastor) tell us that God will provide us food, just like He provided food for the Israelites.  We sat very well during chapel!

Today during our Writing Time, we learned how to hold a crayon correctly.  Later we colored a paper and I documented how your child held his/her crayon.  If you have any questions about writing, please let me know.

I also did Mat Man again and we drew another self-portrait.  It is interesting to see what details the students remembered to add after doing Mat Man again.  These drawings are in your child's portfolio.  Check them out!

The Mat Man Bag and the Devotion Bag went home today with students.  Please remember to bring them back the next time you come to Preschool.  I have posted a video on the blog about how to make Mat Man.  Please view it when it is your turn to make Mat Man at home.  You can find this video on the "Mat Man" tab above.

Next Monday is Picture Re-take Day.  Please email me if you have any questions.  There are a few students in our class that haven't had their picture taken yet, so if you can come on Monday to Zion's church basement anytime from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. that would be great.

Please be looking ahead to October's schedule.  We have a couple of days that we will not have school due to Teacher's Conference and Parent/Teacher Conferences.

I have contacted about half of our class via phone and am looking forward to finishing those calls this week.  See you on Thursday!
