January 26th Pictures

We had a great Thursday!  Today we started our Dial Testing and then we had several friends that were not with us today, so I decided to postpone our "store" project until next week.

During Jesus Time, we reviewed the miracle of the Feeding of the 5000 and then watched a short video on YouTube that showed the story.  The theme behind it was about sharing and how we should share with friends, just like the little boy did with his fish and bread.
After the video, each of the students had to pair up with a buddy and tell a time they shared with someone.  This was a good activity to work on our listening skills!

Then we closed our time with prayer.  One of our classmates led the prayer!  She did a great job!  This will be something that we will do everytime we end Jesus Time!
Then we worked on our alphabet and writing skills...

We reviewed how to hold our crayon or pencil the right way...
Then it was off to practice letters in our name!

We enjoyed snack and then had some quiet time on the carpet area looking at books...

Then it was on to Center Time!

We made snowflakes using Q-tips and glue...

We ended the day by singing some songs-some new and some old!

Pictures for Jan. 24th

Today we were busy creating and having fun!

During Jesus Time, we started a new story about a miracle that Jesus did; Feeding of the 5000.  We talked about how only God can do miracles, a great point that you can reinforce at home!

Some things that we worked on today:
Using scissors
Word Associations Puzzle:  Example-basketball and basketball hoop go together
and finishing up our snowman from last week.
During Writing Time, we had fun using spaghetti to help us make letters.  I showed students different letter cards and they had to make the letter using the pasta.

We enjoyed a delicious birthday treat!

During Center Time, some of us worked with me while others had fun in the Writing Center and the Kitchen Center.
"We made a web for our spider!"
I worked with students to make snowflakes out of coffee filters.  This was good to use our scissor skills!

We also voted today for what kind of store we would make in the classroom!  The majority of the students voted for a toy store, so it will be interesting to see what toys are created for the store.  We will start that process on Thursday! :)

We enjoyed playing outside at the end of the day; sorry some of us came home with muddy pants!  We really enjoyed getting fresh air and playing with our friends!

January 19th

We had a great day, but unfortunately I wasn't able to capture a lot of it on film!

We started off with gym.  It has been a few weeks since we have been here and it was great to be back!  Today we worked on kicking skills.  The children enjoyed using soft soccer balls!  I tried to take pictures, but they were kicking too fast! :)

Then for Jesus Time, we went on a trip!  We went to God's House, just like Jesus did in the story we have been focusing on these past few weeks.  We sat up in the front of church and looked at all of the beautiful things in God's house.  Then we explored the stain glass windows and made some of our own.
We used color pencils to try and make our paper look like stain glass windows.
 This was our inspiration window!
Someone noticed that the altar cloth and pulpit and lectern cloth had been changed to white!  We enjoyed looking at the pictures that were on the cloth!
On the way back from church, we worked on how we go up and down stairs correctly.  We practiced walking up the right side and going down the other side.  An important skill that we will practice the next time we have chapel!
Back in the classroom, we worked on a new letter during writing time and then we enjoyed Music Time together.  We have been singing nursery rhyme songs together this week and we will do them again next week.  Then we worked on our rhythm skills by doing patterns to music.
Each child got 2 blocks and tried to repeat patterns (ABAB) using their blocks, then the rest of us had to repeat that pattern.  We had fun trying to come up with new patterns.  Then I turned on the music and we did the patterns to the beat in the music; very tricky for some of us! :)       We enjoyed doing patterns this way and I am sure that we will be trying this again!

During snacktime, it was exciting to watch the independence that is occurring in the classroom.  We are now pouring our milk from a pitcher all by ourselves and knowing how to clean up a spill when it occurs-we have come a long way! :)     We also did a nice job of raising our hands when we wanted seconds and working together to set the table for snack.  It was great to watch!

During our Project Time, we looked at our web that we did last week about what you can buy in a store.  Today I asked them to come up with what kind of store would we want to make in our classroom.  We chose 2 ideas and next week we will set up a voting booth so that each child can vote to decide!  I will let you know the outcome on Tuesday! :)

Since we are not able to visit a store as a class, I brought a store to the students.  We watched a video on YouTube that showed a tour of Target.  We talked about what items we saw and I kept hearing, "I have seen that before."  "My store has that too!"
I think the excitement is there to make this a fun project for us to do together!

I am looking forward to the fun things we will do next week!
