We had a great Tuesday! During Jesus time, we found out how frustrating it was to not see Jesus, just like the man in our Bible story, Zacchaeus. We also enjoyed learning the "Zacchaeus song." We also had fun singing a new song called "Hallelujah." It involved us sitting and standing so that was fun for us to do!
We also continued on with our animal project. We colored animal pictures and I read them two stories about whales and sharks. We talked about how they are the same and how they are different.
We also wrote a book today! It is exciting to see how much they have progressed with writing letters.
For the book, each student wrote his/her name and then had to write the name of his/her animal that they drew last week. I had the names of the animals printed out and I put 2-3 animal names in front of the student and I asked them if they could find the word that started with a "m" if there animal was a monkey. It was great to see them recognize the letters and realize how these letters work together to make words. The student then took that word and copied it on his/her page of our book. Then each student used small motor skills to cut out a picture of his/her animal and glued it down on the page. I was able to do this activity with a majority of the students and will finish it up on Thursday! It will be a great book to read to the class. When it is finished, your child can read it to you!
We also worked on writing the number 1 and number 2 today. Number 1 was easy; 2 was a little tricky! If you can practice the number 2 at home with your child that would be great. Please remember these words when working with your child on this number:
1) Start at the top
2) Little curve
3) Big line down
4) Little line across
Please remember that this is not something that I expect to be mastered!
